The most important tasks facing Beijing right now,
according to Beijing’s Mayor Liu Qi, are to review, revise, and finalize
the overall environmental plan and the major construction project plan.
These tasks have to be completed based on the “New Beijing, New Olympic
Games” principle and the “Green Olympics, Scientific and Technological
Olympics, and Human Olympics” concept. All construction projects will be
established based on these principles. In order to do that, Beijing needs contribution
and help from all over the world, particularly from North America. As the
competitor of the Olympic bid, Toronto has many experiences to share with
Beijing. Toronto’s bid for Olympic Games planning and athletic facility
planning were among the best. Toronto is also a “gate way city” for US
technologies. Many North American technical conferences are held regularly
in Toronto. Given current situation in the US, Toronto is selected as the
most suitable city in North America for the forum’s implementation. Through exhibits, presentations and discussions,
the conference will provide a platform as well as promote exchanges
between Chinese and North American building industries, which are involved
in planning, design, and construction spheres. This will help to: ·
Bring China up-to-date with new technologies in planning, design, and
construction spheres ·
Introduce modern sport facility equipment and building materials to
China ·
Provide business opportunities for North American building industries The conference will help China to "make
Beijing one of the most modern, beautiful, and environmentally friendly
cities in the world" as a result of the successful bid for the 2008
Olympic Games and new construction projects. Conference
